Mental is a tool for noticing and reflecting on your moods. It is not a medical service, a therapist, or a crisis line, and it cannot respond in an emergency. Please read this before relying on it.
Not medical advice
Mental is for personal journaling and self-reflection. It is not a medical device, and it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or therapy. Everything it shows you — including AI reflections, summaries, and any patterns it surfaces — is for general informational and self-awareness purposes only, and is not a substitute for professional care. Always seek the advice of a qualified health provider with any questions about your mental or physical health, and never disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read in Mental. Using the app does not create a doctor–patient, therapist–client, or other professional relationship.
If you are in crisis
Mental is not monitored and cannot help in an emergency. If you are in danger, thinking about harming yourself, or in crisis right now, please reach a real person:
- Call your local emergency number (for example, 911 in the US, 112 across much of Europe).
- Reach a crisis line. Find a Helpline lists free, confidential services in many countries. In the US, you can call or text 988.
In the app, “Get help now” in the You tab lists crisis lines, and the same links stay at the bottom of every Ask Mental conversation.
You deserve real-time human support, and reaching out is a strong thing to do.
AI content is automated
Some of Mental's content — daily wrap-ups, tags, memories, suggested actions, and Ask Mental replies — is generated by an automated AI system. It can be inaccurate, incomplete, or simply wrong, and it does not understand your situation the way a person would. Treat it as a prompt for your own reflection, and don't make decisions about your health, safety, or care based on what it says.
Ask Mental offers a perspective on a situation you describe, using only what you tell it and the journal context you allow. It is not a therapist, a doctor, a lawyer, or a financial adviser. Weigh its suggestions with your own judgement, and talk to a qualified person about anything serious.
Your use of Mental
You use Mental at your own discretion and are responsible for how you act on what you see in it. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mental and its makers are not liable for decisions you make based on the app or its content.
